I went to Pick and Save yesterday for double coupon day. I bought:
8 Yo-Plus yogurt 4 packs
2 Fiber One yogurt 4 packs
5 Yoplait Delight yogurt 4 packs
18 ct eggs
2 AAA batteries 4 pack
1 Franks Red Hot sauce
4 Pillsbury Crescent roll 4 packs
I paid $1.01 for all of this. My point is that it doesn't have to be a "major" sale week for it to be a worthwhile stop. You don't have to check out 8 times every time you go (and deal with the accompanying stress). I checked out twice and was in the store about 15 minutes. Fifty dollars worth of groceries for $1 was worth my 15 minutes and it is worth yours too.
The key to an easy and inexpensive trip is to plan, plan, plan. I know it is against some of your natures to do so, but it will save you a lot of time and money. Have the coupons you are going to use separated for easy access. Have your list written down with what you are going to buy and any fillers you might like to boost your total to $25. You do not have to buy the fillers. It is just good to have a list of them in case you need them. Group your items by transaction and write what is in each transaction on your list. This will really help when you are checking out. It is easy to get confused about what you wanted to buy together.
Most of all, don't forget to be proud of yourself. You are doing a great thing for your family. You are being a good steward of your money. You are doing a good job!
